About~
The line between memory and fantasy is like embroidery thread. All you have to do, really, is pick it up and it starts to separate and fall apart. So, am I really remembering these forgotten pasts? Or maybe fantasy is our way of contextualizing memories that don’t fit our realities…?
For me, the charm of the countryside and old places feels haunted. I can’t really explain why, but they fill me with the kind of pulling emptiness that I associate with loss. Just like loss and nostalgia too, there’s a comfort in exposure to the memory of what was. Other places that induce similar haunted feelings are elementary schools, messy art studios, old brick warehouses…
I’m feeling annoyed every time I have to write the title for this one so it’s very subject to change. But yes anyhow– Countryside is available in three sizes, all printed on photo paper. I think it would look charming as part of a photo gallery or in a thick frame in some sunny, solitary little spot.
