My oh my do I love the Pacific Northwest. Nature will overtake everything we’ve ever built one way or another, so I really do think we ought to just get better at working with her rather than against her. This tenacious ivy is growing out of the top of a wooden post out in the water here as if it’s the most natural thing in the world for a land-based plant to live like that. And here I am, still learning how to keep plants alive in much kinder conditions…

Aaanyhow, setting my questionable plant-rearing skills aside. One of the things I love about macro photography (especially near reflective surfaces) is that you can get really interesting textures and effects. And photo edits are great because I can take what the camera saw and fiddle with it until it’s a closer match to what I saw– and from there, take it closer to what I envision when I look at the scene!

I like sunset because it has a way of putting a haze over everything, making it all feel just a little bit unreal. It’s like stepping into a fairytale. How lucky we are that we get to do that all the time if we just look for the magic all around us.

In the name of efficiency and to reduce waste, I print all orders on Saturdays.
